The Process

Conexus has provided an extensive range of culture and leadership initiatives to Xstrata Copper since 2006. This process has involved working with over 150 leaders and numerous intact teams and is still ongoing.

Key elements of the strategy include:

  • Organisational Culture measurement using the Organisational Culture Inventory (OCI). In April 2011 Xstrata undertook its third OCI remeasure
  • 360 leadership feedback and coaching
  • Values alignment
  • Business Process Improvement strategies utilising six sigma and breakthrough methodologies
  • Facilitation of more effective teamwork across boundaries using the Think One Temâ„¢ process.

Results:

Conexus achieved the following results:

  • Over 380 Xstrata Copper leaders have received 360 feedback and coaching using the LSI.
  • There have been improvements in the organisational culture results, particularly in the areas of training, empowerment, respect and communication.
  • There were significant improvements in the perception of culture from those at Manager, Superintendent and Senior levels.
  • Development of a stronger culture of accountability and performance across the organisation.
  • Increased collaboration of departments across Profit Centres.
